Schuck Takes Home Defensive Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Defense is made possible through a conscious effort by the entire team.
That's been on display through the University of Delaware women's soccer team this fall and one of those Blue Hens anchoring that mindset has been junior Olivia Schuck, who helped Delaware come away with back-to-back 1-0 wins this past week, en route to taking home CAA Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Schuck is the second Blue Hen this year to take home the honor after her goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein won the award the first week of the season.
The Medford Lakes, N.J. native has been the center back for a defensive unit that ranks at the top of the CAA and top-30 nationally, allowing just 0.663 goals per game and just one goal in four conference games so far this fall.
This past week, Schuck scored the decisive goal in Delaware's 1-0 home victory over Drexel, depositing a corner from Gabby Johnson into the back of the net in the first half.
Schuck and her teammates have two huge tests this week, beginning with a Thursday evening trip to Northeastern. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
