NEW MARKET, Va. – All fall, the focus for the University of Delaware cross country was about the team.
That focus rang loud and clear at the 2019 CAA Championships with the Blue Hens posting five runners in the top-20 en route to the highest finish in program history. It's the first time that Delaware has ever eclipsed long-time power William & Mary, who finished third, with Elon taking home the team title.
Redshirt junior Mackenzie Jones became the highest individual finisher (fourth place – 20:49.6) since 2005 to lead a trio of All-CAA honors for Delaware. The three individual CAA honorees is the most in program history as well.
Jones was joined by seniors Roxanne Ramirez, ninth place at 21:11.9, and Abby Bolt, 13th place at 21:23.7.
The top-five runners for the Blue Hens were separated by just 0:56 and the top-seven runners by just 1:24.
Seven of the top-10 Delaware runners posted their personal collegiate bests, led by Ramirez (33 seconds), Analise Kaminski (22 seconds), Deja Rodriguez-Santiago (20 seconds) and Jones (17 seconds).

What They Said
"We set a goal after last season to win the 2019 CAA Championship. But one thing we emphasized all year long was that a goal is a direction, not a destination. All season long these women did everything in their power to put themselves in a position to accomplish that goal. During the race, they put themselves right up there with the heavy favorites, Elon. We fell a little short of that outcome goal we set for ourselves, but because we focused on the process of making ourselves the best we could be, we still came away with some amazing results. This is the best team finish at CAAs and the most All-CAA performers in school history. I love this team and am extremely proud to be their coach." – Head Coach Ryan Waite
