Bellinger Honored with Selection to AVCA All-Region Team

The senior becomes first Blue Hen selected to AVCA East All-Region team since 2010
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its annual All-Region Teams Tuesday and senior Maria Bellinger has earned a spot on the AVCA East All-Region Team.

The back-to-back All-CAA First Teamer led the conference in kills per set for the second straight season, averaging 4.59 a frame to rank 18th nationally. She also saw a serious improvement in hitting percentage, going from .187 as a junior to .241 in her final campaign. She joins classmate Andie Hanus in playing all 104 sets of 2019.

Bellinger finishes her career ranked second in the Delaware record books for career kills and career kills per set.

The Paramus, New Jersey native is just the fourth player in program history to be selected to an AVCA All-Region, formerly All-District, team and the first since 2010 while two others have received honorable mentions.

Bellinger closed her career with three consecutive 20-plus kill performances in CAA Tournament matches and the final regular season match to clinch a postseason berth.
