Nate Darling Named CAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen junior guard Nate Darling was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Darling (Halifax, Nova Scotia/DeMatha) scored a game-high 29 points in Delaware's hard-fought 78-70 loss to 20th-ranked Villanova on Saturday at the Never Forget Tribute Classic in the Prudential Center.
Darling finished 10 of 19 from the field, including 6 of 11 from three-point range, and led the Blue Hens with a career-high five assists while playing all but 11 seconds in the game. He posted his sixth 20-point effort of the season, and led UD in scoring for the seventh time.
Darling now ranks fifth in the nation with 3.70 three-pointers per game, seventh with 37 three-pointers made, 10th with a 22.1 scoring average and 21st with a 45.7 three-point percentage. His 38.00 minutes played per contest are fourth highest in Division I.
Darling is the second Blue Hen to earn CAA Player of the Week honors this season, along with Justyn Mutts on Dec. 2. He shared the award with Brian Fobbs of Towson.
Delaware returns to action tonight as the Blue Hens take on Delaware State at 7 p.m. at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington.
