Delaware Finishes 14th in Season-Opening Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The University of Delaware women's golf team opened its 2019 spring season by finishing in 14th place at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational this weekend.
The Blue Hens posted team rounds of 315, 314 and 313 while twice playing the nine-hole Ridge, Bluff and Cove courses at the Reynolds Lake Oconee National Course, finishing 14th out of 17 teams with a 942 total. Sixth-ranked Vanderbilt was the team champion with an 881 score, while tournament host Mercer finished second at 893.
Ariane Klotz was Delaware's top finisher at the tournament by firing a 10 over par 76-75-75-226 during the weekend to tie for 13th place. Thitaree Sakulbunpanich carded a 12 over par 77-73-78-228 to tie for 25th place, while Sophia Dieter tied for 80th place with a 25 over par 82-80-79-241.
Valentina Mueller, who played as an individual, finished in 88th place with a 31 over par score of 78-83-86-247. Ashley Dingman carded a 32 over par 80-86-82-248 to tie for 89th place, while Mackenzie Dieter placed 99th with a 42 over par 82-95-81-258.
Sofia Garcia of Texas Tech posted a three-shot victory as she fired a three under par to earn medalist honors.
The Blue Hens return to the course on Feb. 24-26 when they compete in the Kiawah Island Spring Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.
