Blue Hens in Second Place Following Impressive First Round at Kiawah Island Spring Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Delaware women's golf team carded an impressive 288 score during Sunday's opening round at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic to end the day in second place.
The Blue Hens' score is one shot off the UD single round team record of 287 set twice during the fall season, as Delaware sits in second place out of 49 squads. Coastal Carolina leads the field with a 286 score, the Blue Hens are second at 288, and Tulsa and Stetson are tied for third at 290.
Delaware senior Valentina Mueller is tied for 10th place after she fired a one under par 71 on the par 72, 5,964-yard Osprey Point Golf Club course. Mueller carded seven birdies on the day, and ended her round with an eagle on the seventh hole.
Thitaree Sakulbunpanich and Ashley Dingman are each tied for 17th place as both players shot an even par 72 on Sunday. Sakulbunpanich recorded three birdies and 13 pars during her round, while Dingman carded two birdies and 14 pars.
Ariane Klotz shot a one over par 73 during her opening round, ending the day in a tie for 36th place. Klotz posted four birdies and carded an eagle on the 18th hole.
Sophia Dieter is tied for 91st place with a four over par 76 while Kylie Greulich, playing as an individual, is tied for 181st place with a nine over par 81.
The second round of the three-day tournament will take place on Monday, with the Blue Hens teeing off at 1:30 p.m. on the Oak Point Golf Club course.
