Sakulbunpanich Leads Field, Blue Hens Third After Record-Breaking Day at Edisto Island Invitational

EDISTO BEACH, S.C. – Thitaree Sakulbunpanich leads the field after carding a school record 65 during her second round, while Delaware sits in third place in the team standings following Sunday's opening rounds at the Edisto Island Invitational.
Sakulbunpanich fired a two under par 69 during her opening round on the par 71, 5,902-yard Plantation Course at Edisto, before carding a six under par 65 to end the day in first place with an eight under par 69-65-134. Sakulbunpanich posted six birdies during her second round to go with 12 pars, eclipsing the previous UD single round record of 67 set by Andi Slane and Ariane Klotz.
Sakulbunpanich holds a one-shot lead over Mikayla Fitzpatrick of Xavier, who sits at seven under par.
After recording a 296 team score in the first round, the Blue Hens carded a program record 278 in the second round to end the day in third place out of 16 squads with a 574 total. Delaware topped the previous single round mark of 283 established during UD's last tournament at the UNF Collegiate.
North Florida leads the team standings at 570, followed by Xavier at 571 and the Blue Hens.
Klotz is tied for 13th place at the tournament with a one over par 71-72-143, while Ashley Dingman carded an eight over par 81-69-150 to end the day in a tie for 34th place. Dingman fired four birdies during her second round, the second lowest round of her career.
Valentina Mueller is tied for 40th place with an 11 over par 81-72-153 while Mackenzie Dieter, playing as an individual, is tied for 47th place with a 14 over par 77-79-156. Sophia Dieter posted a 15 over par 75-82-157 to finish the day in a tie for 51st place.
The final round of the invitational will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday.
