Delaware Holds On For 9-8 Win at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Delaware closed out non-conference action Sunday afternoon with its third straight win – a 9-8 victory at Louisville.
A close affair throughout, the Blue Hens (6-5) took a 5-3 lead into halftime and took its largest lead of the game at 6-3 five minutes into the second half. The Cardinals (4-9) were able to tie things at 6-6, but Christine Long put UD ahead with 12:38 remaining and the Blue Hens never looked back.
Long registered a game-best four goals while Caroline Farley picked up two goals and an assist to go along with a game-high seven draw controls for Delaware.
Chantae Simms and Sarah Comstock led the defense with four ground balls apiece while Simms added two caused turnovers.
Kate Brewster logged eight saves with one ground ball for her fifth career win.
