Blue Hen Freshman Brooke Glanden Named CAA Softball Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware freshman first baseman Brooke Glanden was named Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

Glanden (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) went 5 for 8 at the plate during the Blue Hens' two games at the Cavalier Classic on Saturday, scoring three times and driving home three runs.

She went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI triples and two runs scored in the 7-2 victory over Buffalo and finished 2 for 4 vs. Norfolk State, including a game-tying RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Glanden has started all 14 games for Delaware this season, batting .341 with team-highs of 15 hits, four doubles and two triples.

Glanden is the second Blue Hen freshman in three weeks to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors, as Halle Kisamore picked up the accolade on Feb. 19.

Glanden and the Blue Hens return to action this weekend with four games at the UNCG Spartan Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
