NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware softball has added transfer Charlotte Moore, an outfielder from Virginia Tech, to its roster for the 2027 season.Â
"Charlotte is a player we've followed since her high school days, when she was one of the most dominant hitters in Virginia," head coach Jen Steele said. "She has spent the last two years in a winning environment at Virginia Tech, where she received great training and continued to develop her game. She brings a powerful left-handed bat with tremendous upside and the ability to impact our lineup in a variety of ways. Beyond her talent, she's someone who understands what it takes to compete in a championship culture. We're excited about the impact she can immediately make and the growth that still lies ahead for her as a Blue Hen."
Moore played two seasons for the Hokies, helping Virginia Tech to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2025 and 2026 and back-to-back 40-win seasons with two top-three ACC finishes. From Ashburn, Va., Moore played at Riverside High School, where she was a two-time all-state selection and three-time first team all-region and all-district pick. In 2023, she was an Extra Innings All-American honoree and broke the Virginia State single-season RBI record (61) and tied the HR record (17). As a senior in 2024, she helped lead Riverside to its first 5A State Championship. She set career school records for home runs (36), RBIs (143), triples (10), and walks (44) and had a .453 batting average.Â
Moore is Delaware's second transfer addition of the 2026 offseason so far, being joined by Madison Steppe of Hofstra. The Blue Hens have had notable success navigating the transfer portal in recent years, having brought in former CAA Pitcher of the Year and All-Region selection Billie Kerwood, two-time All-Region honoree Morgan Hess, CAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region selection Mary Beth Cahalan, CAA Defensive Player of the Year Kiara Mills, All-Region selections Julia Boyet, and All-Region selection and 2023 ERA leader Taylor Wroten.Â
UD ended the season at 31-24 and 17-10 in conference play in its inaugural CUSA season. Delaware has won at least 30 games in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.
