Softball Adds Transfer Kylah Reading

NEWARK, Del. -Â University of Delaware softball has added transfer Kylah Reading, an outfielder from Drexel, to its roster for the 2027 season.
"Kylah is a proven Division I hitter who brings an immediate impact to our program," head coach Jen Steele said. "She led the CAA in RBIs, and her athleticism, versatility, and offensive production make her one of the premier additions in this year's transfer class. We're excited for what she'll bring to our outfield and to our team culture."
Reading played two seasons for the Dragons, starting in all 89 appearances. She is a career .348/.400/.529 hitter in 276 at bats with 96 hits, 16 doubles, 10 home runs, 68 RBIs, 25 walks, and 21 stolen bases. As a freshman in 2025, she batted .325/.379/.452 with 41 hits, two home runs, 22 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases, earning CAA All-Rookie. She followed that up with a .367/.418/.593 line in 2026 with 55 hits, 10 doubles, eight home runs, 46 RBIs, and 10 steals while starting 39 games in the leadoff spot.Â
In addition to ranking first in the CAA during the 2026 season, she was also fourth in home runs and slugging percentage, fifth in total bases (89), sixth in OPS (1.011), eighth in batting average and runs scored (36), and 10th in hits. She also had 16 multiple-hit games and five three-hit games. She led Drexel in average, on base percentage, slugging percentage, runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, and total bases.Â
From Lenhartsville, Pa., Reading played at Hamburg Area High School, where she was a four-year varsity player and helped her team win the BCIAA Berks County Softball Championship in 2024. She was named the Berks County Player of the Year in 2023 and Hamburg Area High School's Female Athlete of the Year in 2024. She was also an All-Berks County First Team and All-State First Team selection. She finished her career as Hamburg's record holder for single-season home runs, single-season stolen bases, career home runs, career triples, career runs, and career batting average.
Reading joins Charlotte Moore (Virginia Tech), Madison Steppe (Hofstra), Takyla Davis (Arizona State), and Eden Frederick (Furman) as Delaware's transfer additions during the 2026 offseason. The Blue Hens have had notable success navigating the transfer portal in recent years, having brought in former CAA Pitcher of the Year and All-Region selection Billie Kerwood, two-time All-Region honoree Morgan Hess, CAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-Region selection Mary Beth Cahalan, CAA Defensive Player of the Year Kiara Mills, All-Region selections Julia Boyet, and All-Region selection and 2023 ERA leader Taylor Wroten.
UD ended the season at 31-24 and 17-10 in conference play in its inaugural CUSA season. Delaware has won at least 30 games in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.
