RICHMOND, Va. – As most students at the University of Delaware headed to spring break, Michaela Meyer and her track & field teammates went to work on the track.
Meyer had a historic weekend at the Raleigh Relays, setting a new school record and qualifying for the ECACs in two events. Her efforts garnered her CAA Track Athlete of the Week, marking the second straight week a Blue Hen took home the accolade after Halima Scott won last week.
"Michaela has done a great job really buying in and pushing herself this year," Assistant Coach Ryan Waite said. "She's really taken a lot of what she's learned from her past and current teammates and taken her talents to the next level. We're excited about the success she's having and what's to come in her future."
Meyer shattered the school record in the 800m with a time of 2:07.02, a full second faster than the previous mark of 2:08:12 by Lindsay Prettyman in 2014. Meyer's time is the fastest in the CAA this spring and 31stfastest nationally.
The Southbury, Conn. native also joined the 4x800 relay later at the meet and grabbed a seventh-place finish and an ECAC qualifying time of 9:10.24.
Meyer and her teammates will head to the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. this weekend.
