Blue Hens, Pulgini Fifth After Second Day of CAA Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. – Delaware remains in fifth place while freshman Matt Pulgini is tied for fifth following Saturday's second round at the CAA Men's Golf Championship.
After carding a 295 score during Friday's opening round, the Blue Hens fired a 298 on Saturday to end the day in fifth place out of nine schools with a 593 total. Charleston leads the field at 585, while UNCW is just one shot back. James Madison sits in third place at 588, followed by Drexel at 589 and Delaware.
Pulgini shot a one over par 72 during his second round on the par 71, 7,088-yard Pinehurst No. 8 course, and is tied for fifth place with a three over par 73-72-145. Pulgini birdied the first, eighth and 13th holes on Saturday to go with 11 pars.
Roberto Nieves also carded a 72 on Saturday, and sits in eighth place at the tournament with a four over par 74-72-146. Nieves posted a birdie on eight and closed his round with nine pars.
RJ Wren, who birdied the first, ninth and 15th holes on Saturday, fired his second consecutive 75 and is tied for 17th place with an eight over par 75-75-150.
Jack Melville is tied for 25th place with a 10 over par 73-79-152, while Nick Vecellio is 41st with an 18 over par 79-81-160.
Connor Schmidt of Drexel leads the individual field at four under par, while Michael Sass of Charleston is two shots back.
The final round of the championship will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
