RICHMOND, Va. – Mia DeRuggiero finished the season with a bang Saturday afternoon and was recognized Monday for her efforts as she was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
The junior set a Delaware Stadium record with 11 points on seven assists and four goals against Towson. Her 11 points was the most for a Blue Hen since All-American Karen Emas tallied 13 points versus James Madison in 1986. The mark is also the third-most points ever in a single game for a CAA player.
DeRuggiero wraps the year by registering two 10-plus point performances after posting 10 in the team's win over Oregon on March 27. She is the first CAA player to have two 10-plus point games since 2003.
DeRuggiero broke Delaware's single-season record of 43 assists set in 1984 by tallying a total of 53 in 2019 and is ranked second in program history with 97 career assists.
