Rowing Finishes Just Shy of Lehigh in Saturday Duel

Blue Hens complete final tune up before Dad Vail Regatta next weekend

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware rowing team held its final head-to-head meet of the season on Saturday against Lehigh University on Lake Nockamixon, but the Blue Hens' four boats were each seconds behind the Mountain Hawks.

The event marked the final tune up before next weekend's prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.

The Varsity 4 bout was a tightly-contested race with all three boats in the water finishing within three seconds of one another. Lehigh's boat finished in 8:02.05 while the Blue Hens put two boats out there, finishing in 8:04.38 and 8:04.98, respectively.

Lehigh's Varsity 8 boat managed to edge UD, coming in with a time of 7:01.43 while the Blue Hens finished in 7:09.43. The second Varity 8's race also went the Mountain Hawks' way as Delaware came in with a time of 7:25.84 to Lehigh's 7:12.53.
