Steinmetz and Garber Earn Second Team All-CAA Softball Honors; Two Blue Hens Named All-Rookie

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen senior catcher Anna Steinmetz and freshman centerfielder Hanna Garber each earned second team All-Colonial Athletic Association Softball honors, while Garber and freshman first baseman Brooke Glanden were named to the CAA All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
Steinmetz (Glen Mills, Pa./West Chester Bayard Rustin) becomes the first player in UD softball history to earn all-conference honors during all four years, as she picked up second team All-CAA accolades as a freshman and first team honors in each of the last two seasons. She led the Blue Hens with a .329 batting average and eight home runs this year, while tying for the team lead with 47 hits.
Steinmetz is the school's career leader with 44 career home runs, and ranks second with 154 RBI and 368 total bases. Her 201 career hits are fifth most in Blue Hen history, while her 97 runs scored and 33 doubles each rank eighth.
Garber (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) started in centerfield and served as the Blue Hens' leadoff batter for all 51 games, leading the team and ranking second in the conference with 27 steals. She also is tied for the CAA lead with four triples, and posted team-highs of 51 hits and 33 runs scored. Garber paced Delaware with 16 multi-hit games this season, and her 27 steals are third most in a UD single season. She reached base safely in a team-high 14 straight contests from Apr. 6-28.
Glanden (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) started all but one game as UD's first baseman, leading the squad with 30 RBI and tying Garber for the CAA lead with four triples. She ranked second on the Blue Hens with 11 doubles and seven home runs, tied for second with 47 hits, and tied for third with 26 runs scored. Glanden posted three-hit games against Norfolk State and Buffalo, while adding seven two-hit games on the year.
