NEWARK, Del. – Humble. Hard-working. High-Energy. Hungry. The 4 H's.
They are the pillars of the University of Delaware women's soccer program and all four will be put to the test this upcoming fall against a competitive and challenging 2019 schedule.
"This is a balanced non-conference schedule that will allow us the chance to test ourselves against some of the most successful programs in the region and prepare us for an always challenging CAA slate," head coach Mike Barroqueiro said.
The slate includes 10 home games at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium, as well as two NCAA Tournament teams from last year.
"We're excited for our 2019 season as it is packed with competitive matches early on. We feel confident that each one of our nonconference games will prep our team achieve our goal of playing in the post season," associate head coach Taylor Wilson said.
The schedule kicks off with four consecutive road contests, two of which are scrimmages (Maryland on Aug. 11, Pitt on Aug. 15), followed by a trip to Pennsylvania to take on Lehigh (Aug. 23) and Lafayette (Aug. 25).
Home games against Stony Brook (Aug. 30) and Richmond (Sept. 1) open up the home portion of the schedule.
Conference season starts in late September with a trip to Charleston (Sept. 26), followed by back-to-back home games against JMU (Sept. 29) and Drexel (Oct. 3)
Delaware will return 23 players from a season ago, including two All-CAA performers in Riley Dixon and Olivia Schuck.
