NEWARK, Del. -- The Delaware men's soccer program has released its 2019 schedule, which includes matchups against four NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago.
The Blue Hens will play six matches at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium, including the home opener on Sept. 2 against a West Virginia squad that won a game in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
Delaware opens the regular season on Aug. 30 at Villanova, while the Blue Hens open conference action on Sept. 7 at William & Mary, the start of a four-game road swing.
UD will host league matches against UNCW (Sept. 21), Elon (Sept. 28), James Madison (Oct. 21) and Drexel (Nov. 2). The CAA Championship will be held Nov. 8-16.
Delaware will return 14 players including five starters from last year's team that went 5-11-1 and advanced to the CAA Tournament Quarterfinals. The Blue Hens will be led by sophomore defender Timo Hummrich, who was named first team All-CAA and the league's Rookie of the Year. Hummrich scored a team-high four goals a year ago, Robert Campbell finished with two goals and two assists, and Jake Steinberg paced UD with three assists while scoring the game-winning goal in overtime at Drexel.
