Seven Talented Newcomers Set to Join Blue Hens This Fall

NEWARK, Del. – With most of last year's team returning, the University of Delaware cross country squad was in good shape entering 2019. The Blue Hens had posted one of its best seasons in the past 20 years. They were in the top-three in the CAA and had four of their five scorers from last year's team returning.
The prospects for the 2019 just got better as the Blue Hens will welcome six talented newcomers to the roster this fall.
"I'm very excited about this incoming class. Not only is it a strong group of runners and students, but they will add great value to our team chemistry," head cross country coach Ryan Waite said. "I think we have a roster this year that will help us chase after CAA titles, not only this year, but also into the future."
Transfers Abby Bolt (Saint Mary's College) and Julien Webster (Syracuse) will be joined by a freshmen class that includes Anna Cleary (Wilmington, Del.), Katherine Hally (Wilmington, Del.), Alicia Lenoir (Wilmington, Del.), Jessica Pidgeon (Central Valley, N.Y.) and Jessica Stratton (Old Saybrook, Conn.).
Abby Bolt – Redshirt Senior, Reno, Nev./Galena (Saint Mary's (Calif.))
Personal bests of and 4:43 in the 1500, 10:06 in the 3000m, 17:14 in the 5000m. She finished 16th at the 2018 West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships.
Anna Cleary – Freshman, Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy
Personal bests of 5:11 in the 1600, 11:14 in the 3200. 5-time Delaware State Championships runner-up.
Katherine Hally – Freshman, Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy
Personal bests of 5:16 in the mile, 11:36 in the 3200. 2-time Delaware State Championships bronze medalist.
Alicia Lenoir – Freshman, Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy
Personal bests of 5:22 in the 1600, 11:22 in the 3200. Finished in the top 5 of Delaware Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor State Championships 9 times. 27th place at Nike Cross Southeast Regional Championships.
Jessica Pidgeon – Freshman, Central Valley, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury
Personal bests of 4:49 in the 1500, 10:12 in the 3000. Finished 18th at the New York Federation Cross Country Championships.
Jessica Stratton – Freshman, Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook
Personal bests of 3:03 in the 1000m and 5:10 in the 1600. 3rd place at the 2019 Outdoor Connecticut State Championships in the 1600.
Julien Webster – Thurmont, Md./Catoctin (Syracuse)
Personal bests of 4:57 in the 1600, 10:37 in the 3200, and 17:26 in the 5000m. 2016 Foot Locker Cross Country Nationals qualifier. 2017 New Balance Indoor Nationals 7th place finisher in the 5000m. 2017 Indoor Maryland State Champion in the 3200.
