Hanus Captures CAA Defensive Player of the Week

The senior picks up her first career weekly honor after stellar defensive effort

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its weekly awards Monday and senior libero Andie Hanus was named the Defensive Player of the Week after the opening weekend of conference play.

Hanus was the anchor of the Blue Hens' defense all weekend long, highlighted by a season-high 30 digs in a five-set thriller against UNCW. She was just three digs shy of her career high and had two assists against the Seahawks.

On the weekend, the Omaha, Nebraska native had 46 digs with four assists and a service ace, playing all eight sets, just as she has all season long.

On the season, Hanus ranks second in the CAA in digs per set at 4.49 and third in total digs with 211.

This is Delaware's first CAA Defensive Player of the Week since the 2016 season.
