Dickey Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association named Delaware women's basketball junior guard Jasmine Dickey the Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Dickey tied a career high with 31 points in the 93-88 comeback win over St. John's on Thursday, Dec. 10. After scoring just two points in the first half, the Baltimore native took over in the second half, scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter, including the first 11 Delaware points of the period.
That included a stretch where she scored six straight points in a span of 32 seconds, making a jumper, stealing a pass in the backcourt on the ensuing possession for a fast break lay-up, then finishing another lay-up after a second Red Storm turnover. The guard from Baltimore also added nine rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Through three games, she is averaging 27.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 3.0 assists per game.
This is Dickey's first Player of the Week honor from the CAA, but she did earn Rookie of the Week recognition five times during the 2018-19 season. This is also the second straight week a Blue Hen has been named Player of the Week, after junior guard Paris McBride won the honor following a 29-point performance in a win at Pitt.
The Blue Hens have now beaten an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent and a Big East opponent in the same season for the first time since 2012-13, and are off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2016-17.
