Celebration of Champions: 1995 Women's Cross Country Squad Wins NAC Title

The 1995 Blue Hen women's cross country team won all 10 of its dual meets and claimed the North Atlantic Conference championship during an outstanding campaign.
Delaware opened its season on Sept. 9 by defeating Navy, Mount St. Mary's and Appalachian State at the Navy Invitational as Tara Pointin finished second among the individuals, Sarah Cowles was third and Katie Guarracino placed fifth.
The following week, the Blue Hens finished an impressive third out of 15 squads at the Fordham Invitational, with Pointin finishing third and Cowles coming in sixth.
Delaware won the first Delaware Invitational on Sept. 23 by defeating Bucknell, Davidson and Hofstra, as Pointin again led the way by winning the individual title while Christina Rolleri was second and Cowles placed third.
After a seventh place finish at the Lafayette Invitational and a sixth place showing at the Paul Short Invitational, the Blue Hens returned home to White Clay Creek State Park on Oct. 14 to post wins over La Salle, Lincoln, Drexel and Delaware State. Cowles won the individual title during UD's second home meet of the season, followed by Pointer, Rolleri and Guarracino.
The highlight of the season came on Oct. 28 in Boston, when Delaware captured the North Atlantic Conference crown. Cowles won the individual title while Pointin finished third, Rolleri was fourth, and Guarracino placed seventh. All four runners earned All-NAC honors, while Sue McGrath-Powell was named the NAC Coach of the Year.
The Blue Hens capped their impressive season on Nov. 11 by finishing in eighth place at the ECAC Championships, as Rolleri led the team with a 17th place result.
