Roberto Nieves Named CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware sophomore Roberto Nieves was named Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday following his outstanding performance at the Loyola Intercollegiate.
Nieves earned medalist honors at the tournament by carding an 11 under par 67-71-67-205 on the par 72, 7,015-yard course at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. He set a program record for lowest 54-hole score, and became the Blue Hens' first medalist since Marc Oliveri at the Colgate Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational in September, 2016.
Nieves carded six birdies during his opening round, before adding five in his final round. He entered the final two holes in a tie for the lead before making a birdie on 11 and shooting par on 12 to claim medalist honors.
Nieves helped lead Delaware to a fifth place team finish, including a single round record 267 during Monday's final round.
