Emily Winburn Earns CAA Rookie of the Week Honors for Second Time

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen freshman pitcher Emily Winburn was named CAA Softball Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, earning the honor for the second time this season.
Winburn picked up three wins after tossing 12.2 scoreless innings over the weekend at the Pirate Invitational, scattering seven hits and striking out nine batters while walking just one.
Winburn fired a four-hit shutout in Saturday's 1-0 win over UMBC, and tossed four innings of scoreless relief in the 2-1 victory over Binghamton on Sunday morning. She then pitched the final 1.2 frames during the Blue Hens' 8-2 triumph over Hampton Sunday afternoon.
Winburn, who was also named CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 11, leads the Blue Hens with six victories and a 1.93 earned run average this season.
