Final Watch List
WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the unfortunate end to the 2020 campaign, the Tewaaraton Award will not be handed out, however the national committee did recognize the final award watch list.
The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team had two representatives on that list with Matt DeLuca and Charlie Kitchen both earning a spot among the nation's top players.
Both DeLuca and Kitchen were perennial All-CAA honorees for the past two seasons and were critical in helping the Blue Hens return to back-to-back CAA Tournaments for the first time in seven years.
Through just six games in 2020, DeLuca ranked in the top-10 in the country in goals against average (8.78) and led the CAA and ranked 11th nationally with a save percentage of .850. He currently sits with 571 career saves, which ranks in the top-five all-time in program history and fourth among all Division I goalies.
Kitchen ended the spring with the nation's longest active scoring streak at 38, which currently sits in the top-15 all-time in Division I history. He is currently one of just three players in program history to rank in the top-10 in program history in career goals, assists and points.
The duo are the first Blue Hens to appear in the final Tewaaraton Watch List since 2010 when Curtis Dickson was among the finalists for the prestigious award.
