NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware volleyball program has added seven newcomers to the family for the upcoming 2020 season as head coach Sara Matthews completed her class May 19.
Â
The signing class includes five incoming freshman and a pair of transfer student-athletes.
Â
"Our staff is really excited about this incoming class," Matthews said. "It is filled with very talented volleyball players that should make an immediate impact on our program and we can't wait for them to join our Blue Hen Family."
Â
Pearce Augier (pronounced "oh-JHAI") is a 6-3 middle blocker from Charlotte, North Carolina and Lake Norman Charter where she served as team captain her senior season.
Â
In that 2019 season, she was named to the all-conference team after eclipsing 200 kills on the season, hitting .344. Augier was a member of Charlotte Union Volleyball Club and plans on becoming a physical therapist.

In her senior season, Flood was named the Lancaster-Lebanon League MVP as her team claimed the District III championship and finished third in the state. She was a member of East Coast Power club team and plans on studying public policy at the University of Delaware.
Â
Amelia Painter will look to help hold down the Blue Hens back line as a libero/defensive specialist from Pottsville, Pennsylvania and Pottsville High School.
