NEWARK, Del. - Delaware women's lacrosse head coach Amy Altig announced the squad's 2022 schedule Wednesday afternoon.
"We are looking forward to competing against some of the best teams in the country this season," said Altig. "Our team is excited to take the field and represent Delaware during the 2022 season. We wanted to challenge ourselves in non-conference play so we will be prepared to take on our tough conference opponents."
The 2022 slate features eight home games and eight road games across five different states. Delaware is set to play two Big Ten teams at the beginning of the season, including 14-time national champion Maryland.
The Blue Hens open the season at home Feb. 12 by hosting Rutgers in Delaware Stadium before hitting the road and traveling to Philadelphia for a game at Penn. The squad returns home to close out February with a contest against La Salle (Feb. 23).
Delaware travels for a pair of games in the DMV, making a stop in College Park, Md., to play Maryland (March 2) before heading to Washington, D.C. for a match against Georgetown (March 5).
The Blue Hens host Army March 9 for a mid-week game before returning back to Philadelphia to play Temple March 12. They return to Newark for a two-game homestand against Saint Joseph's (March 19) and UMBC (March 23), before traveling to Old Dominion March 26 to finish the non-conference schedule.
The squad opens CAA play on the road with a game at Drexel March 30, before hosting Hofstra (April 6) and William & Mary (April 9).
The Blue and Gold travels south for a road tilt at Elon (April 16), and then to James Madison (April 23) the following week. Delaware closes out the regular season at home against Towson on April 30. The four-team CAA Tournament will be held May 6-8 in Harrisonburg, Va.
