PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Delaware rowing team continued their strong start to their Fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule with a third-place finish in the Championship Fours event on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Head of the Schuylkill on Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.

Along with the Championship Fours race, the regatta saw the Blue Hens also suit up for the Championship Eights and Alumnae Eights events.

"We're proud of how the crews competed today," said head coach Kevin Gruber. "They raced aggressively and they showed a lot of spirit. We're looking forward to our last week on the water and getting back on the start next weekend in Virginia."

Competing in the Championship Fours and shining at the regatta was bow #255. Capturing third place with a time of 14:07.262 was c-Hannah Kirk, 4-Cornelia Meiss, 3-Julia Rothstein, 2-Jessica Dobson, 1-Sloane Matthews. The next Blue Hen boat to cross the finish line with a seventh-place finish was bow #257, consisting of c-Tierney Ellis, 4-Hannah Towhey, 3-Alli Burns, 2-Tynneqa Jefferies, 1-Rachel Henry with a time of 14:35.214. Following directly behind was bow #295 with a lineup of c-Amanda Schlosser, 4-Meghan Rogers, 3-Hannah Walsh, 2-Maria Dupnock and 1-Sophia Talley, taking eighth place with a time of 14:36.812. Making the top-25 by placing 22nd (15:35.310) was bow #300 c-Claire Higgins-Hart, 4-Maya Ferrer, 3-McKenna Twitchell, 2-Alexia Skor and 1-Alicia Stratman. Finishing in 24th place (15:44.350) was bow #298 with c-Sydney Ross, 4-Madeline Curran, 3-Maddy Singh, 2-Ava Norton and 1-Lydia Greenwood in the boat.

Bow #531 with c-Olivia Kelly-Quigley, 8-Elena Sherman, 7-Singh, 6-Grace Diehl, 5-Twitchell, 4-Delaney Denegar, 3-Stratman, 2-Alexis O'Keefe, 1-Shannon Gibbons highlighted the Championship Eights event with an 18th place finish (14:05.633). Bow #551 with c-Megan Hamilton, 8-Stirling North, 7-Meredith Blowman, 6-Hanaa Abdallah, 5-Olivia Hollingsworth, 4-Blair Kennedy, 3-Alexcia Bryant, 2-Felicia Marcozzi, 1-Emily Hegyi followed in 35th place with in a time of 15:08.287.

Rowing alum competed in the Alumnae Eights event as bow #767 and claimed fourth place with a time of 13:40.448.
