Swimming and Diving Winter Training Trip
11/18/2021 12:40:00 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
Our Blue Hens swimming & diving programs are off to a hot start to the 2021-22 season. A combined 6-0, with program wins over John Hopkins, UMBC and George Mason. The team returns to competition in November with 3 meets before another break over the holidays.
The Blue Hens are excited to have the opportunity to return to Florida this winter for a team training trip over winter break. They will spend a week in Fort Myers at the Florida Gulf Coast Aquatic Center from December 27 to January 2. This is a great opportunity for team building and developing strength in the pool. The trip will blend many hours in the pool with fun activities and team building as they enter the second half of the season and prepare for CAA competition.
This trip would not be possible without the past support of our alumni, family and friends. We have already secured a generous lead matching gift of $25K from swimming alumnus Dawn Mayers-Schieffer '85 and her husband Bill Schieffer '84. Help us maximize their commitment by making a philanthropic gift in support of our trip.
The total cost for the team is $65,000 which will cover pool and gym rental fees, bus transportation, meals, flights and lodging. This total breaks down to approximately $1,000 per student-athlete. Your contribution of any amount will make a difference in our ability to provide championship experiences for our student-athletes.
An investment of $1,000 to cover the cost of one student-athlete would also allow you to receive name recognition in our team locker room as part of our Name a Locker program.
Our winter training trip is a great opportunity for us to grow as a team and come back re-energized to tackle the last third of a very long season. The type of training we can do on this trip allows us coaches to be more specific and intentional with our workouts, along with the great experiences our student-athletes will get out of sharing a week of training and bonding offsite with their teammates.Head Coach Pablo Marmolejo
