Delaware Moves Up to Second on Second Day of Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Delaware men's swimming and diving team moved up to second place with 507 points after the second day of competition at the Patriot Invite.Â
In the 1-meter diving prelims, Philip Townsend placed 12th with a mark of 200.20 with Josh Shipley following close behind in 13th place with a score of 193.80.
In the 200 Medley Relay, Gavin Currie, Tonislav Sabev, Simeon Sabev, and Miguel Vasquez placed second with a time of 1:29.00. Vasquez finished the last leg of the relay in 20.57. The relay team of Zach Rowe, Zach Sherk, Ryan Polino and Luke Rautzhan placed sixth in 1:32.01.
Andrew Taylor placed third in the 400 IM (A Final) with a time of 3:57.80. Aaron Wilmore followed with a seventh place finish in 4:05.72. Jack Hattery placed ninth in the B Final with a time of 4:02.71.
Simeon Sabev hit the wall third in the 100 Fly in the A Final in 48.06. Justin Sabo placed 13th in the B Final with a time of 50.44. Vasquez (50.65) and TJ Yaglenski (50.95) closed out the B Final, placing 15th and 16th respectively.Â
In the 200 Free, Rautzhan placed 10th, swimming in the B Final, finishing the race in 1:43.31. Sabo placed 15th, hitting the wall in 1:44.46.
Toni Sabev placed first in the 100 Breaststroke setting a meet record and a freshman record with a time of 53.99. Three other Blue Hens placed in the top-eight of the A Final with Eric Veit taking fourth (55.30), Hattery taking fifth (56.23) and Sherk taking eighth (56.79).
Currie placed first in the 100 Back, hitting the wall in 49.25. In the B Final, Polino (50.39), DJ Fechtman (50.45), Rowe (50.57) and Miguel (51.06) placed ninth through 12th respectively.Â
In the 800 Free Relay, Taylor, Veit, Toni Sabev and Currie placed second with a time of 6:43.59 to close out the day.Â
The Blue Hens have the 1,650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and 400 Free Relay on the schedule for the final day of the Patriot Invite.Â
