NEWARK, Del. - Michael Walker has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of Swimming and Diving, head coach Pablo Marmolejo announced Wednesday afternoon.
"I am extremely happy and proud of Michael as he gets this promotion," said Marmolejo. "He has been instrumental in the progress our team has had in the last three years. His commitment, passion, and dedication to our student-athletes makes us a better team. I'm very excited to work with him in his new role and to continue developing our program towards the top of the conference."
Walker spent his first three seasons as the men's and women's assistant coach. This past season, he helped guide the women's team to four CAA individual champions and one men's individual champion.Â
In 2020, he assisted the women's team to a fifth-place finish at the CAA Championship, its highest since 2016. Freshman Mira Selling earned three medals at the championships and was named the conference's Rookie of the Year, the program's first. He also helped guide senior Kevin Basch to a pair of silver medals, helping solidify Basch as one of the best swimmers in program history. Â
