Currie Tabbed CAA Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month

RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman Gavin Currie was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month announced by the conference office Tuesday.
A native of Fredrick, Md., Currie holds the seventh-fastest time in program history in the 500 Free (4:31.32) after placing ninth in B Final at the Patriot Invite (Nov. 18). He won in the 100 Back at the Patriot Invite, hitting the wall in 49.25, which is now the sixth-fastest time in Delaware history. The freshman also touched the wall first in the 200 Back at the Patriot Invite in 1:46.67 in the A Final, a top-four time in program history.
Currie was also a member of the 200 Medley Relay team (1:29.00) and 400 Medley Relay team (3:16.79) that posted top-three program times and a second-place finishes at the Patriot Invite. In the tri-meet against La Salle and Rider (Nov. 13), he hit the wall second in the 200 Fly (1:55.23), defeating Rider, and also placed third in the 200 Back, defeating La Salle, in 1:52.71.
The swimming and diving teams return to action on Jan. 8 with an away meet at CAA foe, Drexel.Â
