Lauren Krinsky makes six saves in goal for the Blue Hens
BROOKLINE, Mass. – Delaware women's soccer dropped its first Colonial Athletic Association match of the spring, 2-0 at Northeastern from Parsons Field Sunday afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper Lauren Krinsky made six saves for the Blue Hens (2-1, 0-1 CAA), including several stellar point-blank stops, but Alexis Legowski and Chelsea Domond found the back of the net for the Huskies (3-2-1, 1-0 CAA).
Junior Sara D'Appolonia had the best scoring chance of the opening 20 minutes with a shot from the top of the box that forced a save at the near post, before Legowski gave Northeastern the lead in the 27th minute.
Senior forward Emilia Ryjewski tested Huskies goalie Angeline Friel from long range following a Delaware corner early in the second half. Domond found the bottom left corner in the 60th minute to double the Huskies' lead.
In the 79th minute, Domond was in on goal again from six yards out, but Krinsky made a strong save to parry her shot away.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MIKE BARROQUEIRO
"Hats off to Northeastern. We got ourselves thoroughly outplayed from the opening whistle and it showed in what was the poorest performance we've had in a while. There's a ton for us to take from this and we have no choice but to learn our lessons. We'll get back at it tomorrow."
