RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team swept the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) weekly awards on Tuesday after senior Mark Bieda and freshman Cam Acchione collected honors.
Bieda was named the player of the week, while Acchione received the rookie of the week nod. It was the first time since Feb. 21, 2020, that the Blue Hens earned both awards in the same week.Â
Bieda was on the attack in Delaware's 19-12 road victory over Drexel on Saturday, setting new career marks in points and goals, while tying his career-high in assists. The Bridgewater, N.J., native posted a six-point outing after leading all scorers with four goals to pair with two assists. He needed just four shots to notch his four goals against the Dragons.
Acchione had himself a career day after he tallied a career-high four points while recording his first collegiate hat trick off a trio of goals. All three of the rookie's scores came in the opening seven minutes of play, allowing the Blue Hens to take an early advantage. He also added one assist in the contest.
The Blue Hens are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Towson to Delaware Stadium for a CAA matchup slated for 12 p.m. on Lax Sports Network.Â
