Biasiello fans 10 in 7.1 innings of relief and Riley drives in four with a homer

NEWARK, Del. – Junior Mike Biasiello came out of the bullpen in the first inning and worked 7.1 innings with 10 strikeouts to help the University of Delaware baseball team clinch a four-game series with an 11-5 victory Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

"It was awesome to see our team respond to some early adversity and settle things down," said head coach Jim Sherman. "I give so much credit to Mike (Biasiello) for his performance today. It was big to get a conference series win under our belt and gain some momentum."

Freshman Aidan Riley continued his big weekend with a 3-for-5 game, including his first career home run. He drove in four runs and scored two of his own and was just a triple shy of the cycle.

Hofstra came out quickly, plating three runs in the first inning before the Blue Hens immediately answered with four runs of their own in the home half. Riley and junior Joseph Carpenter went back-to-back in their first at-bats.

Delaware was able to put up another crooked number in the third as Biasiello worked six-straight scoreless innings from the second through the seventh inning.

The Blue Hens got some help from six Hofstra errors and graduate student Kyle Baker along with redshirt junior Jordan Hutchins were able to pick up multi-hit games.

Graduate student Derek Wakeley came out of the bullpen to shut things down in the ninth inning to complete the four-game series win.

The Blue Hens will continue CAA North Division play with a four-game set in Boston beginning Friday at 2 p.m. against Northeastern.
