NEWARK, N.J. – Charlie Kitchen of the Delaware men's lacrosse team was named to the USILA DI Team of the Week on top of receiving Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Kitchen had a career day while leading the Blue Hens to a dramatic 14-13 overtime victory against No. 17 Hofstra on Saturday. He tallied nine points on a career-high six goals to pair with three assists opposite the Pride. His nine points tied his career-best mark, previously set back in 2019 against Hofstra.
The Marlton, N.J., native did most of his damage in crunch time. With Delaware trailing 10-6 entering the fourth quarter, he scored four goals in the final 15 minutes of action to help the Blue Hens erase the deficit and eventually take the lead. Then in overtime, he assisted on the game-winning goal scored by Tye Kurtz.
Kitchen and the Blue Hens will head on the road one final time during the 2021 regular season to take on Towson this Saturday at noon in Towson, Md. The Tigers have won three straight and four of their last five outings with a pair of wins over ranked opponents. Â
