Blue Hens Tied for Sixth After First Day of CAA Championship

ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team is tied for sixth place following Sunday's opening round of the CAA Championship.

The Blue Hens posted a 304 team score on the day, finishing tied for sixth with Towson. College of Charleston sits in first place with a 276 score, while Drexel is five shots back.

Roberto Nieves carded an even par 72 on the par 72, 6,787-yard Cotton Dike Course at Dataw Island Club and is tied for ninth place among individuals. Nieves birdied the third and 17th holes during his opening round while adding 14 pars on the day.

Hugo Kedzlie is tied for 15th place with his one over par 73 round that featured four birdies, while RJ Wren sits in 29th place with a seven over par 79.

Owen Manchester is tied for 30th place with an eight over par 80, while Elliot Haas shot an 11 over par 83 to end the day in 35th place.

Charleston's Christian Baliker carded an eight under par 64 and holds a four-shot lead heading into Monday's second round.
