Celebration of Champions: 1991 Outdoor Track & Field Team Wins ECC Championship

Delaware won 15 of 19 events as the Blue Hens cruised to the 1991 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field championship.
Delaware earned 143 points at the meet, easily defeating Towson (31), Central Connecticut (21) and UMBC (13).
Dionne Jones was named the meet's Outstanding Performer for the second straight year and for the third time in her career as she won the 100 and 200 meter runs, in addition to running a leg on the winning 400 meter and 1600 meter relays.
Stacey Price also had an outstanding performance for the Blue Hens, as she won the shot put with a then school and ECC record throw of 43'11.5".
Michelle Curcio won the hammer throw with a meet record toss of 144'9", Adriana Festa captured the discus title for the third straight year with a throw of 130'0", and Kris Knoebel defended her javelin title with a toss of 120'0".
Other Delaware champions were Laura Reisinger in the 10,000 meters, Pauline Dargis in the long jump, Amy Oppermann in the 3,000 meters, Jill Riblett in the 1500 meters, Karen Johnson in the 110 meter hurdles, Aimee Dempsey in the 400 meters, Robyn Neely in the 400 meter hurdles, and Ellen Strickler in the 5000 meters.
Jones went on finish 14th in the 100 meters at the ECAC Championships, Curcio was ninth and Mary McGuire placed 24th in the hammer throw, and Festa came in 22nd in the discus.
