Sarah Piening Named CAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen senior righthander Sarah Piening has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week following her outstanding performance vs. St. John's.

Piening celebrated her Senior Day by firing a three-hit shutout during Saturday's 8-0 victory over the Red Storm. She allowed just two walks and struck out four batters over six innings while improving to 3-0 on the year.

Piening, who earned her second career CAA Pitcher of the Week award, has won all eight of her decisions over the last two seasons. She has appeared in 10 games while making five starts in the circle this year, posting a 3.04 ERA with 23 strikeouts.
