Ten Blue Hens Earn ECAC All-East Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Delaware track and field team competed at both the ECAC Championships and the BYU Cougar Invitational this weekend, with two Blue Hens advancing to the NCAA Championships. The Blue Hens finished ninth in the ECAC tournament, out of 36 teams.
"Our ladies did a great job this weekend at BYU and at the ECAC Championship, I am so proud of everyone's efforts," said head coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith, "Kudos to Holly Manning for her outstanding performance in the 800m and to all our student-athletes who achieved All-East honors."
Ten Blue Hens earned ECAC All-East Honors, awarded to athletes who placed in the top eight of their event.
ECAC All- East Honorees:
Kamylin Padgham finished eighth in the 200-meter with a time of 25.14s to earn ECAC All-East Honors.
Roxanne Ramirez clinched her All-East honor with a seventh-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:32.36, her finish also moved Ramirez up to seventh in school history.
Destiny DeBlock placed eighth in the heptathalon with a score of 4028.
Bethany Clement's hammer throw of 54.08m was good enough for seventh place and an All-East honor.
Freshman Cierra Crane tied for sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.76m, she also broke the University of Delaware Freshman Record with this finish.
Megan Albamonti continued her stellar freshman campaign with a seventh place finish in the javelin with a 42.86m throw. She will continue to compete in the NCAA Championships at the end of the month.
Myrissa McFolling-Young and Gabrielle Holliday placed third and fourth, respectively, in the discus throw. McFolling-Young's toss came in at 47.98m, while Holliday finished with a distance of 47.89m.
Halimah Roberson placed third in the triple jump with 12.30m.
BYU Cougar Invitational:
Holly Manning won the 800-meter with a time of 2:05.99 to break her own outdoor school record.
Jessica Pidgeon placed fourth in the 10K with a finishing time of 37:28.86.
Tina Capparell ran the 3000-meter Steeplechase in 10:58.68 to finish in second, with Susanna Weir right behind her in third with a time of 11:18.52.
Holly Manning and Megan Albamonti will continue to compete in the NCAA Championships. The preliminary round will commence May 26-29 in Jacksonville, Florida (UNF) and the final round will be held in Eugene, Oregon on June 9-12.
