NEWARK, Del. – Junior Owen Grant of the Delaware men's lacrosse team tacked on another postseason honor after being named an Inside Lacrosse Third Team All-American on Sunday night.
The honors were voted on by members of the Inside Lacrosse media and they were announced during halftime of the last game of the NCAA Tournament First Round.
Â
Voters were asked to select three first-team, three second-team, three third-team and three honorable mention attackmen, midfielders and defensemen, then one first-team, second-team, third-team and honorable mention face-off specialists, short-stick defensive midfielders, long-stick middies and goalies. The teams were selected based on the cumulative total of points received (four for first-team, three for second-team, two for third-team and one for honorable mention).
Grant pieced together a standout junior campaign, finishing third in Division I in caused turnovers per game (2.36) and leading the nation's 17th-best scoring defense. He tied the Delaware single-season program record for caused turnovers with 26. The third-year defenseman led the Blue Hens and ranked fifth in the conference with 3.82 ground balls per game. Grant also contributed on the offensive end with four points on three goals and an assist.
