Eric Ludman belts his first career homer
NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware baseball team battled back from a three-run deficit Friday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium, but ultimately fell at the hands of Towson, 6-5, in the four-game series opener.
Â
After a three-run second inning by the Tigers, Delaware responded with a four-run home half of the third that included a two-run home run by senior Jack Goan.
Â
Goan had a 2-for-3 day at the plate and junior Joseph Carpenter drove in the other two in the inning with a base hit to right field.
Â
Towson managed a run in each of the next two innings to take a 5-4 lead before the Blue Hens tied it in the sixth, via a freshman Eric Ludman home run, the first of his career.
Â
Junior Mike Biasiello worked 4.0 strong innings out of the Delaware bullpen, allowing just one hit and what would be the game-winning run in the ninth inning. Biasiello punched out six Tigers on the afternoon.
Â
The series continues Saturday with a 1 p.m. first pitch that starts off a doubleheader at Bob Hannah Stadium before the series concludes Sunday.
