NEWARK, Del. – Five-year standout attack of the Delaware men's lacrosse team, Charlie Kitchen signed a professional contract with the Albany FireWolves of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) on Tuesday.
"I'm excited to be a part of the FireWolves organization and I'm thankful for them for the opportunity to live out a childhood dream," Kitchen said. "This wouldn't have been possible without the University of Delaware and the relationships I made during my time there."
Kitchen signed a three-year deal and will be a part of the FireWolves' inaugural 2021-22 season that will begin this fall.
"Charlie has worked hard to improve his craft every year here at Delaware," Delaware head men's lacrosse coach Ben DeLuca said. "He has a phenomenal combination of size, strength, athleticism and a complete skill set. He is a relentless competitor who can create, distribute and score in a multitude of ways as well as make the selfless, unseen plays that allow an offense to be effective. I believe he has a very bright future."
During his time with the Blue Hens, Kitchen compiled 239 points, 146 goals, 93 assists and 89 ground balls. He is one of just six players in program history to tally 200 career points and one of just two to rank among the top-10 in goals, assists and points at Delaware.
Additionally, the Marlton, N.J. native finished second in CAA history in career points, third in goals and fourth in assists.
