Fernandez opened the scoring in the 20th minute, as he collected a pass from Hardarson and fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal from 15 yards out.
The Seahawks tied the game in the 37th minute when Nicolas Molina headed home a cross from the right side by Michael Hornsby. UNCW then scored twice in the final two minutes of the half on a header by Parker Norris and a short volley by Omar Aboutaleb to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
The Blue Hens answered back just 2:16 into the second half when Hardarson scored his first career goal off a Fernandez assist. However Gabe Norris countered for UNCW in the 63rd minute to conclude the scoring.
Scott Sampson made seven saves for Delaware, including a penalty kick late in the first half. UNCW held a 21-12 shot advantage and a 13-4 edge in corner kicks.
