NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware senior Hanna Garber has been named to Extra Inning Softball's Extra Elite 100 College Players for the upcoming 2022 season. In the inaugural year for the top-100 list, players were selected based upon career achievements, most recent on-field history and overall impact on their team and the sport as a whole.
Garber became the seventh player in Blue Hen history to be named First Team All-Region when she earned the recognition in 2021. The Lancaster, Pa. native, who started all but two games in centerfield, produced an outstanding junior season for the Blue Hens as she led the team with a .384 batting average and 38 hits to go with a CAA-best five triples. An All-CAA First Team selection as well, Garber ranked eighth in the league in batting average, posted 11 multi-hit games on the year and batted .556 in conference games.
For her career, Garber is a two-time All-CAA selection as she also earned second team and all-rookie honors as a freshman in 2019. She has appeared in 108 games with 106 starts and owns a career .340 (115-338) batting average. Garber enters the 2022 season ranked third in UD history with 56 steals and fifth with 14 triples, as well as 14th with 81 runs scored.
Delaware opens the 2022 campaign on Friday, February 11 when the Blue Hens travel to Florida for the Stetson Lead Off Tournament.
