NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware volleyball team returned to winning ways Saturday afternoon by sweeping Stony Brook (8-10, 3-6 CAA) in straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-22) inside Bob Carpenter Center. With the win, the Blue Hens stopped their two-match skid to move to 11-6 on the season and 7-2 in conference play.
The Blue Hens remembered who they were in the opening set, headlined by an 11-1 spurt capped by Hannah Wright's ace, 19-6. Stony Brook clawed their way back in, using an 11-5 run before Lily Rogers connected with Savannah Seemans to bury point 25 and give Delaware the set one win (25-17).

The Blue Hens saw its lead balloon to 12 points thanks to a 6-1 scoring run with Kirah Johnson putting herself at the forefront of the spurt, 22-10. The Seawolves attempted to stay in it after Leoni Kunz's kill but Lani Mason made sure that set two was in the hands of the Blue Hens by putting away Rogers' feed, 25-13.
Stony Brook turned things around in the third set and took the lead for the first time in the afternoon, 15-9. Delaware remained poised as Mason's timely kill ignited a much-needed 11-2 run, that was capped beautifully by Gex's first career kill for the Blue Hens to regain the lead for good, 20-17.
