Women’s Soccer Preview: Drexel

NEWARK, Del. – The Blue Hens play Drexel on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium for Senior Day.

What You Need to Know:

The Blue Hens are 2-10-5 overall and 1-5-2 in CAA competition. Delaware returns home for its season finale to host the Dragons.
The last time the two teams played resulted in a 1-1 tie in Philadelphia. The last time the two teams played in Newark, the Blue Hens won 1-0.
Delaware leads the all-time series versus Drexel, 16-4-5.
After leading UD in goals scored in 2021, Sara D'Appolonia has six goals and one assist on her resume in 2022. Izzy Lane leads the team with five assists, while Mia Reed has 46 saves in goal with a 1-7-3 mark. Odaliana Gomez has started twice at the goalkeeper spot for UD and has tallied 32 saves with a 1-2-2 record.

The Opponent

Drexel (9-2-5, 4-2-2 CAA) has clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament. The Dragons are led by Delany Lappin who has 10 goals and three assists. Molly Piso has 60 saves in the net.
