Mason Takes Home CAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware volleyball senior outside hitter Lani Mason was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 26-Oct. 2, announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
In Delaware's lone match of the week (1-0), Mason was swinging at a rate of .324 to set career highs of 38 kills and 24 digs, including posting her sixth double-double of the season, in the thrilling come-from-behind five-set victory at Charleston (Oct. 2). The Chester, Va. native's 38-kill performance is a new program-best, surpassing her own record of 35 kills that she set two weeks ago against Northeastern (Sept. 18). This is Mason's third 30+ kill performance this season and she currently holds two of the top five single-match kill totals in the NCAA this fall.
On the season, Mason averages 6.10 points, 5.65 kills and 2.73 digs in 49 sets played. She leads the conference points per set, points (299), kills (277) and kills per set. Mason leads the nation in kills per set and ranks second in points per set, seventh in total kills, 11th in points and 13th in attacks per set (12.12).

Mason and the Blue Hens will face Charleston in the next hour (2 p.m.) inside the TD Arena to conclude the regular-season series.
