Men's Soccer Falls To Drexel

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware's men's soccer team was defeated by Drexel, 3-1, on Saturday at Grant Stadium. Seidu Shamsudeen scored his third goal as a Blue Hen.
Drexel (5-3-3, 3-2-1) took an early 1-0 lead during the 12th minute on a goal by Kyle Tucker off an assist from Antonio Illumanto and Joshua Pulla. Shamsudeen was able to find the back of the net to tie the game for Delaware (2-7-2, 0-5-1) at one with a shot to the top right corner of the net, with Orri Thorhallsson recording the second assist of his career and his first this season. Thorhallsson has now recorded at least one point in two consecutive games for the first time in his career.
However, less than 30 seconds later, Drexel took the lead on a penalty kick goal by Daniel Nesseler and went into halftime with a 2-1 lead. The Dragons' Michael McCarthy added an insurance goal for Delaware with a goal in the 53rd minute, and Drexel's 3-1 advantage was enough to stick.
Delaware will play the second game of their four-game homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. against UMBC.
