Men’s Basketball Takes on Air Force in First Road Contest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following its 78-54 season-opening win over Wilmington on Monday, the Delaware men's basketball team travels to the Centennial State for its first road contest of the season in a matchup with Air Force. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. EST with the game streaming nationally on the Mountain West Network.

SCOUTING DELAWARE:
- Delaware opened its season with a 78-54 win at home over Wilmington.
- The Blue Hens are 4-3 in road openers under Martin Ingelsby and 33-83 all-time.
- Friday will be the first of five-straight games away from the Bob Carpenter Center.
- Jyáre Davis, the 2022 CAA Rookie of the Year, paced Delaware in scoring against Wilmington, recording 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
- Jameer Nelson Jr., a member of the All-CAA Preseason First Team, picked up where he left off last season, notching 18 points on Monday night.
- LJ Owens rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points in his Delaware debut.
- La Salle transfer Christian Ray made his presence known on the glass against the Wildcats, grabbing 14 rebounds in his first game in the Blue & Gold.
- Delaware tied a program single-game record against Wilmington, racking up 12 blocks as a team in the victory. This has been accomplished seven other times with the most recent coming on November 19, 2010 against Howard.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE:
- Air Force returns home to take on the Blue Hens after falling 62-58 at Bowling Green on Monday.
- The Falcons were picked to finish last in the Mountain West preseason poll. Seventeen of the 20 players on the roster are freshmen or sophomores.
- The Falcons have never lost a home opener during Joe Scott's two stints as head coach (2001-04, 2020-present), playing to a 5-0 record.
- Senior Camden Vander Zwaag led the scoring charge for the Falcons against Bowling Green, scoring 14 on 5-of-8 shooting, including a 4-of-7 mark from beyond the arc.
- Sophomore Lucas Moerman grabbed eight total rebounds in the loss, the most on the team.
MATCHUP HISTORY:
- These two teams have never faced each other. It is the first time any current Delaware athletic program will oppose Air Force in school history.
